Newsletter – Term 3 Week 8
Dear Parents and Carers,
Parent Teacher Conversations
This week our teachers will be holding parent teacher conversations. This term’s communication with teachers will focus on following up on previous conversations and also to provide an opportunity for teachers to share evidence of learning with families. Teachers may request to meet with some parents to discuss any concerns they may have.
We understand that not all families may feel they need to meet with teachers again, considering parent teacher appointments were only held late last term.
Book Week Parade
Last Tuesday we held our much anticipated Book Week dress up parade. It was wonderful to see the creative thought that went into costumes that matched student’s favourite books. A big thanks to Mrs Biffin and the Reading Ambassadors for all the great activities they planned over our extended Book Week.

School Crossing
The Department of State Growth has recently audited our Main Street manned crossing. Unfortunately, it no longer meets the requirements for the number of cars or pedestrians using the road. The crossing guard will be relocated when another site requires a guard. At this point there is no timeline around redeployment of the guard. To promote road safety with our students, we will be having the RACT road safety team visit our Grade 3-4’s and then do some follow up online courses with students. A positive for our school has been the Council’s agreement to build a crossing outside our school. We are very appreciative of their support in building the crossing and we highly encourage all our families to promote road safe behaviours by using the crossing with their children. The Council have also committed to extending the footpath on the opposite side of the school which will help with student movement before and after school.
Class Gardens
With the school daffodils well and truly in bloom, Mr Muir has been working hard on some projects requested by our 3-4 classes. They asked if he was able to build some raised garden beds outside their classrooms. I was a little nervous when I saw him getting stuck into the gardens with his hedge trimmer and chainsaw, but the results are well worth it!! We will shortly have three large garden beds outside our 2/3/4 classes. We were also lucky enough to get a visit and very kind donation from Mrs Harper and Bunnings to help fill our gardens with fruit and vegetable seedlings. I cannot wait to see them growing.
School Satisfaction Survey
Every year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you complete our online survey about Perth Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
The survey is open from Monday 29 August 2022 until Friday 23 September 2022 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Take the online survey by clicking this link or pasting it in your browser:
https://customervoice.microsoft.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=xzq-qWAMHkmLO6Mvj0auyBoa0dkiLDxAujb1jvDJt7BUOTE0SzNRS1cxWkFLTk82RjE2R0hOR1hYMS4u&ctx=%7B%22School%22%3A%22Perth%20Primary%20School%22%7D
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department of Education staff.
Covid-19 Updates
AN UPDATE ON COVID CASES
If your child tests positive to COVID-19 they must isolate for a minimum of 5 days. They must NOT leave isolation if they have ongoing respiratory symptoms (cough, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing) and you must take extra precautions when you do leave isolation.
You must also tell your close contacts that you have tested positive. Close contacts need to test for COVID-19 and follow close contact guidelines.
Find out more about what to do if you test positive to COVID-19.
AN UPDATE ON TESTING
Students who develop symptoms more than 28 days after their release from isolation, should not come to school. You should get tested using a RAT or PCR test because immunity may have decreased.
CLOSE CONTACTS
Close contacts of people with COVID-19 are no longer required to quarantine for 7 days.
Students who are a close contact may attend school if they:
- Are well and have no symptoms
- Have returned a negative RAT or PCR test upon realising they were a close contact
- Return a negative RAT result each morning before attending school for the next 7 days.
There are no requirements for students/parents to notify the school that they are a close contact. If you develop symptoms at any time whilst a close contact, you must stay home.
Read more about the requirements on the coronavirus website:

RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS (RAT)
Tests and face masks are still available upon request.
