Newsletter – Term 1 Week 6
Dear Families, Students and Friends
Face masks no longer required outdoors on school site
Visitors are no longer required to wear face masks outdoors on site. Please note staff, students and visitors aged 12+ years are still required to wear face masks while indoors on site and practise COVID-safe behaviours such as handwashing and physical distancing.
Hay fever/Asthma and other conditions
Hay fever and some other respiratory conditions that occur from time-to-time may produce symptoms similar to COVID-19. Anyone with hay fever symptoms is advised to stay home and get tested. A student or staff member experiencing intermittent hay fever (or another condition, such as asthma) conduct a RAT.
If the RAT is negative and symptoms continue, Public Health advice is to conduct a second RAT 24 hours later or seek a PCR test. If the second RAT or PCR test is negative, this is sufficient evidence to enable a student to return to school, or a staff member to return to work, so long as they feel well.
If symptoms change or increase in severity, a student or staff member may need to see their treating medical practitioner for review.
Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)
Families can request additional RAT’s should they need them. Please contact the school office. If you are displaying COVID-19 symptoms you cannot enter the school site to collect. You will be required to contact Public Health and make other arrangements.
How to use a Rapid Antigen test video
Public Health has developed a video on how to use a rapid antigen test to support families.

School Leadership Presentation
On Tuesday 8 March our 2022 Leaders were presented with their badges in a small outdoor ceremony attended by our Grade 5/6 Students. I spoke to the students about the qualities of a leader and shared the quote by John Quincy Adams “If your actions inspire to dream more, learn more, do more and become more then you are a leader”. I look forward to watching our student leadership team develop and share their opinions and ideas.
Congratulations to:

Grade 3 to 6 Primary Athletics Carnival
It was impressive to watch the Grade 3 to 6 students compete in their Athletics Carnival on Thursday. All students demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and were respectful to their peers and staff. Although the carnival looked a little different without spectators our students cheered each other on no matter the place.
Thank you to Mrs Fleming for her organisation ensuring everything ran smoothly. Due to a large number of absences our Northern Midlands team has been selected from carnival results and timed trials.
At the completion of the carnival we have in third place Bramich, in second place Hirst and in first place Lyons. Congratulations to all teams.

Grade 5/6 Key Words Scavenger Hunt
On Wednesday morning our Grade 5/6 classes participated in a scavenger hunt that connected summarising, finding key words and an amazing race. Forty-seven texts were placed around the playground and teams of students had to quickly scan texts to find key words that fit their list. For forty minutes every student was engaged in reading and fine tuning their reading skills. Congratulations to the three teams who completed the task in 40 minutes with a score of 47/47 and thank you to our teachers for utilising outdoor learning in an engaging way. Well done Zack and Sienna, Logan and Trae and Payton and Adi.

New Signage
Commencing on the 21 March new electronic speed limit signs will be installed in Fairtlough Street. Work to remove existing signs and replacement of the new signs will be completed between 7am and 5pm but will cease during drop off and pick up times.
Vandalism
We love when our students and families utilise our school grounds after school and on weekends. Unfortunately, we have encountered several acts of vandalism and damage after hours. If you are utilising our grounds and notice any damages, please ring the police so that a quick resolution can occur.
School Office Reminders
- Student validations forms are due back ASAP.

Thank You
On Monday 21 March Mrs Abbi Dean will rejoin our team as Acting Principal for the remainder of Term 1 and Term 2. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Dean back to our school.
