From the Principal…..
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Wow, what a whirlwind Term 3 has been. I have been so thankful for my time at Perth, meeting so many wonderful families and being so well supported by the entire staff. There are so many things that our school does well, our students are aspirational and respectful, they show courage and growth in learning new things and dealing with adversity. I am extremely proud that I have been a part of this school even for a short amount of time and hope that in some small way I have helped shape and support our school into the future. I know Mrs Craw is looking forward to coming back to Perth as I am sure she has missed our amazing school community.
Writer’s Community
Last week we held our writer’s community. This is a whole school event that happens each term. This term the focus was on poetry. The hall was set up as an animal wonderland full of inspirational pictures, props and a sound scape running in the background. All classes visited and spent some time generating ideas ready to write their poems. There were so many wonderful examples, Miss Doran is preparing an online gallery on Facebook to share our talented writer’s work. Make sure you have a look! As part of this event, our teachers also spent time looking at the poems with a focus on the vocabulary students are using. We have had a focus on the teaching of vocabulary to improve the quality of writing. It has been really pleasing to see the amount of growth in student writing samples from Kinder – Grade 6.

Apple for the Teacher
At Perth we value all our teachers and think that they all do an amazing job supporting our learners. We were however, excited to hear that one of our teachers, Ms Karen Lovell was the runner up in the Chilli FM ‘Apple for the Teacher’ competition. Her students were very excited to get a visit from the Chilli team to present Ms Lovell with an iPad for the class and also a $30 Harvey Norman voucher for each student. Again, we appreciate the wonderful work of all our teachers but were especially proud that one of Perth’s teachers was recognised by Chilli FM.
Active Pathway
Mr Muir and his Grade 5-6 helpers have had their paint brushes working overtime to get the active pathway completed this term. It has really energised our playground with colour and enthusiastic students. It is great to see children of all ages engaging in the pathway! A huge thanks to Mr Muir for bringing his vision to reality.

Country Gold Representatives
Last Thursday and Friday, we had a number of selected students represent Perth at the Country Gold carnivals held in different location around Launceston. We are extremely proud of their efforts not only in their playing ability but also their sense of fair play and enthusiasm. A special mention to our football representatives who managed to get a win for Northern Midlands East. There is still one carnival to go for girl’s football which will be held in mid-November. Well done again to all our representatives, you have done Perth proud.
School Association Fundraiser- Bunnings BBQ
This Sunday our kind School Association volunteers are running a BBQ at the Invermay Bunnings store from 9am to 4pm. This is a wonderful fundraising opportunity for our school. The support of our School Association in raising much needed funds for our school is greatly appreciated. If you have some time to spare on Sunday, our volunteers would welcome some extra hands. Please contact the office to arrange a time slot to help. Alternatively, if you can’t help, why not visit for a sausage and a drink!
Keeping our school safe
We are lucky to have great outdoor play spaces with playgrounds and sporting equipment that are able to be accessed by our local community. We welcome students and community members into our grounds over the holiday break but want to remind people to be considerate in using our spaces. We have recently upgraded our school security system but would also appreciate the vigilance of our school community in reporting any suspicious behaviour or vandalism at our school.
Just a reminder that Term 4 will have a change-over to summer uniform and students will be required to wear hats.
Once again, I would sincerely like to thank the school community for making me feel so welcome as Principal of Perth. I would like to wish all our families a happy and safe holiday break. We look forward to beginning Term 4 on Monday 11th October.

Milkshakes for 5/6 Camp
Please leave your name at the office if you are able to assist with this important fundraiser. Money raised by selling milkshakes to students this term and next, goes towards reducing the cost of our camp for all families.
Your support either as a volunteer and in supporting the milkshakes fundraiser is much appreciated.
