From the Principal…..
The AGM for our School Association will be held on Thursday this week. The PPS School Association is a dedicated group of parents and community members who are interested in supporting students and the school to achieve best learning outcomes. The group is informed about high-level school-wide policies and programs and works for the best interests of all students. Talk to one of the current members if you’d like further information about how to become involved. The fundraising sub-committee is always looking for additional helpers to support current and future projects to help with raising money for school projects. Even an hour or two can make a difference.
2019 Athletics Carnival
Our Athletics Carnival for grades 3 – 6 students was held in very cool conditions on Thursday last week.

Student Leadership
We are acknowledging the important role our student leaders play in our school culture by adding an agreement outlining the expectations to the process. Student leaders and their parents will sign the agreement before the badge presentation is made at the next assembly.
Orderly Learning Environments at PPS
Since the beginning of the year our key priority across the school has been to ensure every learning environment is well-established so that students can settle into the learning habits we understand are responsible and required for best learning outcomes. Please support our efforts by reminding children about the necessary tools and attitudes needed for best efforts at their learning, playing and getting along with others. We are definitely a ‘hands-off’ school and this message has been given loudly and clearly in all classes and at many lunchtime and whole-school assemblies. It is rewarding to see almost every child understanding and following through with this message.
Guest speakers at Assemblies
This year we will be connecting our assembly certificates to the character qualities we’ve been talking with students about which are so important for success at school and in later life. These are the seven character qualities known as Game Changers: positivity, enthusiasm, gratitude, curiosity, perseverance, social intelligence and self-control. They link very well with our school values and our Strive for Five. We will be inviting some guest speakers to talk in assembly and share important and inspiring messages with students and to help with the certificate presentations. We know our school community will find this inspiring and memorable.
Connect 6 Partnership
On Tuesday last week we hosted a professional learning session for all teachers in Connect 6 as we worked together to align the elements of our Instructional Models across all schools. This is important work which guides teaching and learning. Working together to ensure consistency in our practice means we work towards the highest quality learning opportunities for all students across Connect 6 schools. This benefits all students as they move from primary to secondary school and involves all teachers in rigorous professional learning expectations. We will continue to work together for the benefit of all students in our network.
