Reporting on student progress
On Friday all students will receive their mid-year report and this will be followed with parent/teacher discussions next week.
Please ensure you have booked in for a parent/teacher discussion via the Schoolzine online booking system in the link below for next week. We already have many bookings but highly encourage ALL parents to attend to discuss their child(ren’s) progress. These are important opportunities to consider how your child(ren) are currently progressing with their learning and for discussing how their learning can be supported at home. Please ask at the office if you require any assistance with this new booking system. Thank you to all teachers for their hard work in preparing for these important partnerships as by working together we can enhance learning of all students.

The school library will be warm and open for parents to wait between appointments.
Transition information year 6 students
KMHS Parent Information Evening 2 for students in year 7 (2019) will be held on Tuesday 26th June at 6pm. Bookings can be made through the KMHS Schoolzine app. This is an important evening for all parents of students who will be attending Kings Meadows High School in 2019 to hear information around the school, opportunities and to help prepare your child for transitioning to high school. Please contact KMHS for more information.
All year 6 students are involved in a number of transitional programs at both Cressy District High School and KMHS. These have begun this week.
Uniform
Wearing of the school uniform is highly valued at PPS and it helps to establish pride and a build a strong sense of belonging and connection. Currently we are updating our School Uniform policy to align with the new Education Department Guidelines. This has begun through some work with the SA, staff and students. Consultation is currently underway.
It is expected that all students wear their uniform every day to school. This does not include hoodies, beanies and other accessories. If for some reason students are unable to wear their uniform please inform their class teachers as we understand that there may be some circumstances where full uniform is not possible. A reminder also around the wearing of jewellery and hair attire. Jewellery should be limited to studs and small sleepers for safety reasons and if hair is long it should be tied back in school coloured bands or ribbons. Wearing our uniform with pride sends a very important message around our school values.
Cross Country
All the best to our Cross Country team as they represent Perth in the Northern Midlands Cross Country on Friday. Let’s hope the weather this week is kind, allowing this event to go ahead as planned. Students have been training hard building up their stamina over a long distance in preparation for this. Good luck to everyone involved. We know you will proudly represent PPS.
Readers’Cup
I was privileged to see the culmination of six weeks of hard work with the intra-school Readers’ Cup competition held last Friday. 36 year five and six students were involved and all students who took part should be congratulated on their commitment to reading, teamwork and perseverance. Results were very close with the winning team victorious by one point. Congratulations to the Shakespearian’s Team. They will be representing PPS next Thursday evening at Summerdale Primary School. Thank you to Mrs McIntyre, Miss Irvine and Mrs Laws for judging this hotly contested event.
Canteen
Our school canteen continues to be well supported and highly successful. Qrk is continuing to grow with most families ordering online. Thank you to Jan Maher for her role in running the canteen and ensuring its efficiency and to our valued helpers who are regularly supporting and enabling the canteen to operate. Please read further information in the newsletter around making your child/ren’s canteen experience even better.
Student Cabinet/Parliament
We had lots of creative hair styles adorn the uniform last Wednesday all in a good cause to raise funds for the Cancer Council of Tasmania. Well done to the students who led this and followed through with collecting the money, counting and sharing information around this day. Over $240 was raised and this money will now be put towards the purchasing of some specific items that were nominated by the Cancer Council. Thank you to everyone who supported this.
Use of school grounds
We have beautiful school grounds and we are more than happy for students and the community to use these after school or on the weekend providing they are always used with respect and everyone is considerate of the environment. We expect that all users follow our school Strive For Five values. For the safety and consideration of others please remember that any students using the school grounds after the conclusion of the school day or over the weekend must always be accompanied by an adult. Thank you for your support in ensuring our park-like grounds are always a positive experience for everyone.

A message to families of a few things that will make your child/ren’s canteen experience even better:
- QKR orders close at 8:50am Thursday mornings
- We ask parents, where possible, to supply the correct change to prevent money being thrown in the bin as money is taped to lunch bags and it is children’s responsibility to take off the lunch bag
- When ordering frozen fruit sticks or frozen yoghurt please ensure the voucher is taken off your paper bag before putting that in the bin
- Please put your order in the blue basket in your classroom before daily P.E.
- Please make sure you write what you want on the order form, your name and your class.
