Term 3 - Week 8 (11 September 2024)
Perth Primary School Calendar
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is lovely to see that our school gardens think spring is close by, shame the weather is not feeling the same way! A big thank you to our school community for support over the last couple of wild weather weeks. The damaging winds caused minimal damage to our school thankfully, however we have had our trees looked at again and as a result we have had some additional maintenance completed to ensure our school is safe.
Open Classroom – Tuesday 17 September
By now, you should have received an invitation from your child to attend our Term 3 open classroom. This is designed to be an informal opportunity for families to visit their child’s classroom, view and discuss student work and also have conversations with the teacher. If you feel that you may require a 1:1 conversation about your child, please touch base with the class teacher to arrange a suitable alternative time. By Tuesday, all the evidence of learning for Term 3 will be uploaded to Seesaw for parents to view. If you have any questions about your child’s work, the open classroom is the perfect opportunity to touch base with the class teacher.
Staffing
Last week we sadly farewelled Mrs Tenille Rosevear as our School Business Manager, Tenille is heading off to Deloraine High which is a little closer to home for her! Ms Taleah Hill will be joining us next week as Acting SBM, I am sure that she will feel very welcome at our school!
Last week, we also farewelled Miss Wrankmore who is heading off on a very exciting venture, becoming a mum! We wish her all the very best and look forward to having her back in 2026. Miss Hannah Lockhart is replacing her and spent all last week getting to know the students and class routines before Miss Wrankmore finished.
Swimming & Water Safety Program
Our Grade 3-5 students have just completed what is a very tiring fortnight of Swimming and Water Safety. We are always surprised at how well our students handle the changes to routine and independence required during the program. We are lucky that our students are given the opportunity to participate in such a valuable program and hope that our students get to put their swimming skills and knowledge into practise as the weather warms up.
Grade 5-6 Values Education
Our 5-6 students have had a focus on our school values, respect, courage, growth, responsibility and connection. Last week, this involved some learning activities related to why we have values and an individual reflection on how individuals embody values at school. Within the group, 30 of our students were recognised for their commitment on a daily basis to displaying our school values. These students attended an activity afternoon with me to recognise their commitment to our values and for being excellent role models for those around them.
Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
Last week we recognised and celebrated the amazing work of our Teacher Assistants. We are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated and skilled team of TA’s working with our students. I am very proud at the level of professionalism displayed by our TA’s, all contributing to ensuring that our students are known, safe, well and learning every single day.
B Block re-development
You may have noticed some changes to the B block area, things are starting to take shape. We have spent considerable time preparing the area ready to start with a blank canvas. Over the next few weeks, you will notice planters and garden beds starting to take shape. Over the holidays, the concrete area will be covered with artificial turf and snakes and ladders and chess board built in place.
Book Week
We certainly love an opportunity to celebrate books and reading at Perth Primary! This year’s book week was launched by our children and staff dressing up as favourite book characters for the annual parade. The scavenger hunt had students working together to find clues around the school. Congratulations to Harley for winning the book pack. Recommendations were shared as students, staff, parents and siblings wrote their favourite series, authors and characters on a graffiti board. We were privileged to hear about the writing and publishing process from local author, Kerryn Cullen. The week ended with classes coming together to read books, with their magic wands, to celebrate this year’s theme Reading is Magic!
School Satisfaction Survey 2024
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Perth Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.
The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/LutxvrvDdq The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
